During the conquest,Mongol Empire became a Super Empire,which across Asia and Europe.In the fight between Kublai and Ariq B?ke,because of the different of interest,the Empire went secession.It became a Consortium,which was united in nominal,but had individual regime in each territory.Yuan regime as the suzerainty of Mongol Empire had a great influence on the history of China,it became the first dynasty to master Chinese orthodox as the sovereign state after eradicating Song Dynasty.As a unique form of artistic expressions in China,calligraphy has formed a special aesthetic in Yuan Dynasty.And the particular social phenomenon that many ethnic groups lived together,which enriched the composition of calligraphist and brought different kinds of expressions.Observing the process of Yuan Dynasty calligraphy,we can clearly feel the intimate connection between calligraphy and society.Every change in both calligraphy and society was affected by the change of thoughts.Confucianism as the dominant thought in China,it developed Cheng-Zhu school in Southern Song Dynasty and Yang-Ming school in Ming Dynasty,they were entitled with NeoConfucianism.Yuan Dynasty as the gap between Song and Ming,it absorbed Cheng-Zhu school into official ideology until Emperor Renzong of Yuan.What was the status that Cheng-Zhu school acted in society before,and how did it get the official permission? In addition,what influence did Confucianism make during different periods of Yuan Dynasty? Furthermore,what is the relationship between different styles of Yuan Dynasty calligraphy and Confucianism?This thesis will uses literature research,compare research,image research and other methods,combining ancient Chinese thoughts,trying to figure in history of Yuan Dynasty in order to grasp the development of Confucianism and minority calligraphists' styles.All in all,I will farthest avoid misunderstanding caused by subjective assumption.During the process of research,every chapter has its own object.In first chapter,I will discover the causes of prevailing calligraphy style in Mongol Empire,which will use the thought and political view and calligraphy expression of Yelu Chucai.In the second chapter,I will explore these questions.How Cheng-Zhu school adjust itself to fit Yuan Dynasty society.In addition,what the performance did calligraphy do while it brought into Cheng-Zhu school.Moreover,what is the difference of expressions between minority calligraphist and Han calligraphist.In the third and fourth chapter,I will show the attitudinal tendency of ruling class to Confucianism and Chinese culture,through the royal collection and culture activities.At the last,I will think deeply about a peculiar political phenomenon in the End of the Yuan.Meanwhile,try to explain a phenomenon that Confucian trickle on down into social base and the reasons why we have no impression of Yuan Dynasty.
