Listening,speaking,reading and writing are four closely related components in foreign language learning,,and reading is the most important way to obtain language input.According to the "General High School English Curriculum Standards"(Ministry of Education,2003)in the description of language skills,in terms of reading,high school students have reached at least six levels of requirements.Therefore,how to improve student's reading ability is worthy of consideration by every foreign language teacher.In order to explore a more efficient method of reading comprehension in English,the author took a research on English reading teaching in senior high school based on Thematic theory.The research questions of this study are as follows:(1)Can English reading teaching based on thematic theory change the attitude of students to English reading and their reading habits?(2)Can high school English reading teaching methods combined with thematic theory improve students' reading ability? If so,what are the manifestations?Before the experiment,the author made reference to the studies on English reading teaching and the thematic theory both in China and abroad and reviewed them.Based on the theory of theme,this study adopts questionnaires,interviews,and test methods to collect research data.Finally,it uses SPSS software for scientific analysis.During the experiment,the author made a total of two questionnaires.After the experiment,some students were interviewed to find out whether there were differences in students' attitudes and habits of reading English,and the students' English under the guidance of the thematic theory.Reading teaching perspectives.The experiment conducted a total of two reading tests on students in order to find out how the thematic structure analysis method affects students' English reading teaching ability.Through the analysis of the research results,the author finds that English reading teaching under the guidance of theme theory has a significant effect on students' reading habits,reading attitude and reading ability.First of all,after the teaching experiment underthe guidance of the theme theory,students' attitude towards reading has become more positive,and gradually they have developed good study habits.Secondly,after the experiment,students' reading ability has been improved in terms of finding articles,understanding details,paragraph structure,etc.
