| Improving the ability to use comprehensive language is very important for English learners.Safeguarding written expression of teaching quality and cultivating students’ written abilities are much most important part of the teaching of English writing in middle schools.Prof.Wang,an expert on second language acquisition in China,first proposed in 2012 that “story continuation” is a new way to improve writing efficiency.As it is the crystallization of language understanding and output,it can combine the ingenuity of language imitation with creativity.However,there are many potential factors that affect the result,such as the use of mother tongue or not in reading materials,but the impact of different genres on this tasks isn’t took a lot.In this study,it mains discuss whether genres of narrative and argumentative in continuation have different effect on alignment in writing results.Two classes in the junior third grade of a middle school in Sichuan Province was selected as the object.After seven consecutive weeks of continuation task,the reading materials consist of seven narratives and seven argumentative essays.The topics selected were close to students’ life.The statistical data is mainly the type and frequency of the number of alignment of vocabulary,phrases,and syntactic structures.According to the results of data analysis,it attempted to answer the questions: What are the differences in the alignment between the two types of genre,and what types of language forms influence the alignment effect?This study lasted for three months.After seven consecutive weeks of results collection,comparative experiments,other research methods were used to analyze the data.The results show that: Differences in genre can lead to differences in alignment,and can improve the ability to language expression.Narrative-genre reading material can help students improve the fluency of written expression;the argumentative-genre reading material can help students improve accuracy of written expression.Therefore,this study has several suggestions for teachers: 1)Teachers should consider the effect of the alignment in different genres,so as to reasonably allocate and match narrative or argumentative-genre reading materials.2)In the compilation of textbooks,reading materials in textbooks can also serve as a good reading resource for students with continuation tasks.Therefore,reading materials in different genres should also be distributed scientifically and rationally in textbooks. |
