A Practice Report On The Application Of Functional Equivalence Theory In Simultaneous Interpreting

With the rapid development of modern media,more and more TV programs have appeared in our daily life.Among them,the interview programs are popular among audience for their authenticity.With the increase of China's international influence,more and more foreign audience would like to know the developmental situation of China through interview programs.However,although many programs have been interpreted into other languages and introduced into other countries,researches about the application of functional equivalence theory in interview programs are rare.Therefore,the author selects the interview program Dialogue--Investigate in Poverty-stricken Villages for One Month under the Mission of Targeted Poverty Alleviation to carry out the interpreting practice.The interview program Dialogue--Investigate in Poverty-stricken Villages for One Month under the Mission of Targeted Poverty Alleviation is mainly about the conversation between the host,the reporters and the villagers in these poverty-stricken villages.Through this interview,the audience can have a deeper understanding of the process of China's Targeted Poverty Alleviation.However,there are semantic repetition,disordered sentences,subjective-missing sentences and Chinese four-character words and idioms in this interview,which make the interpreting become more difficult.Through the interpreting practice report,the author has a deeper understanding of the current situation of the interpreting of domestic interview programs.The author adopts simultaneous interpreting in this practice,aiming at providing reference for the interpretation of programs about domestic development.Meanwhile,the author hopes that the theory applied in this passage and the analyses of the specific cases can provide some references for future study of students in this field.The author also hopes that through this interpreting report,the theory learned in postgraduate period can be put into practice,the problems and difficulties of functional equivalence theory in practical application can be found in it,and the author's interpreting ability can be improved.
