This report is divided into two portions.Firstly,it elaborates translation practice via political text ‘the General Office of the State Council's Guiding Opinions on Accelerating Education Development of the Midwest'.Secondly,report was prepared on the basis of translation practice.The translation of political texts is essential in applications of translation practice due to its destined official outline and impartial position,and information channel for Chinese foreign propaganda,of which denotes great political and applied significance in the translation procedure.‘Functional Equivalence' theory provides a new perspective for the study of translation theory,and also provides certain theoretical guidance for the translation of government documents.With detailed case study on ‘the General Office of the State Council's Guiding Opinions on Accelerating Education Development of the Midwest',and the guidance of the ‘Functional Equivalence' theory,this thesis preliminarily investigates on problems of cultural differences between east and west,translation on non-subject sentence,and lexical translation.By implementing such translation strategies as domestication and foreignization,amplification and omission,this thesis intends to expose effective means and strategies pertained to political texts translation.
