The name-face matching effect refers to the representation of the name stereotype on the face, which enables people to match the name with the face more than the random level. Many studies have revealed the influence of facial features on social cognition, and rarely involves the influence of social cognition on physical characteristics such as faces.face the existence of the matching effect shows that names as everyone has social label, will also affect people's faces,it means that the social cognitive will also impact on people's physical characteristics. At present, there is no relevant research in China, and whether this effect exists between Chinese name and face is unknown. In this context, this study will verify the existence of the matching effect of the name face and its effect at age and internal mechanism in the context of Chinese culture. This study includes botlh pre-experiments and formal experiments.Among them, the pre-experiment 1 explores the influence of the number of options on the name-face matching effect and sets two options and four options respectively. The results show that the name-face matching rate is significantly higher than the random level under the two options;under the four-option condition, there is no significant difference between the name-face matching rate and the randomness level.Pre-Experiment 2 explores the effect of name commonness on name-face matching rates. The results show that for common names, the name-face match rate under both options and four options is significantly higher than the random level;for rare names under both options,name-face match effects are not significantly different from random levels.Based on this, this study will study common names;for the participants to choose convenient, the following name-face matching tasks will set two options. The formal experiments include three parts:Study One,which explores experimentally whether the name-face matching effect exists.Select college students'names and faces as experimental materials, adopt single-factor experimental design, use independent variables as the presentation method(present name selection face/presentation face selection name),and the dependent variable is the name-face matching ratio, that is,the candidate chooses the correct name/the probability of the face. The experimental procedure was performed with E-prime 2.0.the results show that:(1)Under the two experimental conditions, the name-face matching rate is significantly higher than the random level, indicating that the name face matching effect exists in the Chinese context.(2)Rendering the name of the name-selecting face-the face matching rate is significantly higher than the rendering face-selecting name.On the basis of the Study1,Study 2 selected the names of junior high school students and young children's faces to explore whether name-face matching effects differed at different ages, the 2*2 subjects were designed to study the effects of presentation style(presentation selection name/presentation name selection face)and name face material age(infant/adolescent)on name-face matching rate, the results showed that:(1)the main effect of age was significant, and the name-face match of the young children groupwas significantly lower than that of the junior middle school group.there was no significant difference between the accuracy rate and the randomness level of the young children group.the correct rate of the junior middle school groupwas significantly higher than that of the random level.(2)the main effect of the presentation method has a sharpedge, and the correct rate of presenting name selection faces is higher than that of presenting face selection names.(3)the interaction between age and presentation method is significant.Under the condition of name and face selection, the difference between ages is more significant.Study 3 further investigated whether the name-face matching effect was influenced by the name-expectation type of the testee.A 3*5 mixed design was used to study the influence of age(early/junior/university)and name expectation type(control condition/appearance image/personal character/talent achievement/family inheritance)on the name-face matching rate of the name face material, the results showed that:(1)the main effect of age was significant, and there was no significant difference between the accuracy rate and the randomness level in the infant group;the matching of name-face in the junior high school and university groupwas significantly higher than that in the young children group, and was also significantly higher than the random level, and the junior high school groupand the university groupNo significant difference.(2)Expected type main effect is not significant.(3)the interaction between age and expectation type was significant, the multiple comparisons of LSD found that the name-face matching rate of college students was significantly lower tihan the expectation of family inheritance in character expectations.
