This paper is a dialect grammar essay on "da" in Hubei Zhuhe dialect."Da" is extremely frequently used in Zhuhe dialect and has very rich functions. In this paper, the "da" in Zhuhe dialect of Hubei Province is described, analyzed and contrasted in detail, and the original word of "da" and its geographic location are further explored. It is find that "da" is a common phenomenon in Yangtze River valley. This paper is organized as follows:Chapter one is the introductory and stage-setting chapter, which first proposes the significance of the thesis and the research methods, then gives a detailed description of the geography, history and dialect situation of Zhuhe dialect. It elaborates the phonetic system and phonological features of Zhuhe dialect,so as to provide phonological arguments for the traceability of "da" in the chapter four.Otherwise,we conclude the previous research results on zhuhe dialect and "da".Finally, the source of corpus in this article is described.Chapter two mainly describes the syntactic distribution and grammatical meaning of "da" in Zhuhe dialect. It points out that "da" has multiple functions, which not only can be used as a dynamic preposition,a perfective aspect marker,a persisting aspect marker, but also can be used as a modal particle,a state adjective affix and an adverb affix.Chapter three makes a comparison between "da" and other similar forms in Mandarin and other dialects.Comparing "da" with "dao" in Putonghua,we find that "dao" is more useful and can be used as verb or preposition to indicate the degree.Comparing "da" with related usage in Mandarin,we find that the syntactic distribution of "da" and "le" is basically the same, but the main format of "da" is "V + N + da" and the basic format of "le" is "V +le + N";and "da" is closer to Perfective than "le".Comparing "da" with "zhe" in Mandarin,we find that "da" does not mean that the action is going on,but only means that the state continues, and there is a special format "V + da + zai" indicating that it is continuous.Comparing "da" with "da" in Jingzhou dialect,we find that there are subtle differences in pronunciation, distribution and grammatical meaning;comparing "da" with "da" in Changsha dialect,we find that there is another aspect marker "ka" in Changsha dialect to take on its function, and "da" as a sentiment word to enhance the role of semantics,"da" in Changsha dialect can also be lining words. However,on the whole,"da" is extremely frequently used in Zhuhe dialect,Jingzhou dialect and Changsha dialect, and their usages are also similar.Chapter four mainly investigates the origin of "da" in Zhuhe dialect from the perspective of phonology, and draws on the viewpoint from Mr.Mei Zulin that the original word of "da" is "zhe".The example of "da" from Zhuhe dialect illustrates this point. We also further examine the source and flow relations between the various usage of Zhuhe dialect, that all the usage of "da" in Zhuhe dialect should be "zhe".There is a homologous relationship between these usages. In addition,we also combined the existing papers with the investigation reports of the two major dialects in Hubei and Hubei to outline the main geographical locations of the "da" distribution and find that the phenomenon of "da" is an overall phenomenon along the coast of the Yangtze River basin and the "da" in the whole place are all "zhe",echoing the long snake array of "zhe" put forward by Mr.Mei Zulin.Chapter five sums up the content of this paper, puts forward the problems existing in the research and the ideas that need deeper explorations.
