Mc Intyre,by analyzing the manifestations and causes of the modern Western moral crisis, believes that returning to Aristotle's traditional virtues is a way to get rid of the moral dilemma, thus constructing a new theory of virtue.Mc Intyre's theory of virtue consists of three aspects: First, morality and practice. He emphasizes that virtue can maintain the relationship that people need to obtain through the practice of various internal interests;second, morality and personal life as a whole.Through the explanation of narrative history,Mac Intyre thought that morality runs through the entire human society.Virtue can maintain the individual's personal life style in which one finds the good as its whole life;the third is the virtue and tradition.Mc Intyre believes that the relationship between individuals and history is achieved through tradition.Virtue can maintain the tradition of providing necessary historical connections for practice and individual life.Later,in order to solve the problems left behind in the book After the Virtue,Mc Intyre divided it into three points for supplementary explanation.First of all, through morality and dependence,it is explained that human needs virtue due to the fragility of human beings.Only possessing virtue can protect oneself from harm and help others to survive the period of vulnerability.Second, morality and community can be used to show that virtue is based on only one community and that there is agreement on the good of people and community.Morality can exist in the community. Finally, the rationality of morality was answered through the question of justice. It is of great significance to study the virtue theory of Mc Intyre. The first is that the historical narrative method he adopted avoids disconnecting the individual from history, guarantees the integrity of the individual, and at the same time avoids the fragmentation of the theory of virtue with the social and historical background of itsexistence.Macintyre's theory of virtue is not simply an abstract analysis of the concept of morality, but a historical investigation of virtue, and thus draws the conclusion of the concept of virtue.Second, the self-improvement and social progress of people with virtue are complementary.Third, combining internal interests with external interests can achieve the unity of social interests and personal interests. This is the practical significance of Mc Intyre's concept of practice.Through Macintyre's research on virtue, one can know that the existence of virtue shows the ethos of a person and allows people to consciously pursue a better life and happiness.Although Macintyre's theory of morality has also been plausible about the mistakes of the general and transitional traditions, leading him to one-sided understanding of the Enlightenment Movement and individualism, overly negating institutional justice, but Macintyre's virtue theory for us How to maintain spiritual order in today's society, how to maintain a good social order with members of society, cultivate individual morality, and pay attention to the practice of virtue have very important values, and it is worthy for all to learn from.
