With the development of professional education,there are an increasing number of problems of English teaching in vocational schools.The problem of English listening teaching is particularly serious:Students are weak in English,low in interest and class participation;The teaching method is monotonous,classroom teaching is boring and the classroom teaching efficiency is low.The reform of English listening teaching is urgent.TBLT is taken into account as a new teaching concept which is scientific,effective and practical.Through the students' interactive process of doing a large number of language input and output tasks,TBLT cultivates students' learning interest,cooperative ability,stimulates students' learning initiative,provides a large number of language communication opportunities,and improves students' language learning ability.According to the existing problems in English listening teaching in vocational schools,this study adopts task-based teaching concept to explore effectively the application of TBLT to English listening teaching in vocational schools through a period of sixteen-week teaching experiment.The author first analyzes the theoretical literature of task-based language teaching and English listening comprehension,and provides a theoretical basis for the listening teaching framework of this experiment.The two classes involved in the experiment are from Shaanxi Electronic Industry School and major in electronic information technology.TBLT is used in the experimental class,and traditional 3p teaching approach is used in the control class.The two classes are taught by the same teacher.A total of 76 students participated in the teaching experiment.Before the experiment,the interest of the students of the two classes has been investigated and the results indicate that there are no significant differences in learning interest between the two classes.Before the experiment,the students of the two classes have been tested for English listening proficiency.The results indicate that the listening level of the two classes is equivalent.After the experiment,the post-questionnaire and the post-test paper are carried out by the two classes.The results indicate that the learning interest of experimental class is higher than that of the control class,the mean score of post-test of the experimental class is significantly higher than that of the control class.The results of this study indicate that task-based listening teaching can not only improve students'listening comprehension ability,but also stimulate students' learning interest.The experimental results have basically reached the expected goal.Based on the results of this research and some other scholars in China,the author summarizes the problems in the further study of English task-based listening teaching in secondary vocational schools,hoping to provide enlightenment and reference for further research.
