This is a translation report on the chapter two of The Unknown Soldiers,The novel has been written by Vaino Linna,an outstanding realist writer in Finland.As Linna's signature work,this novel describes a group of young soldiers who have witnessed and experienced brutal life in the Continuation War.Through the author's superb writing technique,this novel mainly reflects the ordinary soldiers' war-weary psychology and a strong desire for the peaceful life.This report is divided into four chapters.Chapter one aims to introduce the content of the text,author' s writing style and significance of this translation task.In chapter two,the translator discusses her translation process including original text comprehension,text analysis,theoretical preparation,as well as revision and proofreading.The third chapter is the focus of this report.In this chapter,the difficulties that the translator has been confronted with will be discussed,along with the solutions to these difficulties like data collection,reference to context,etc.In order to meet Chinese readers' aesthetic standard,the translator also presents how she has creatively rewritten the target text to improve Chinese expression under the guidance of translation poetics.In chapter four,the translator mainly shares her experience on how to translate expressive texts and discusses the problems to be solved as well as inadequacy in this translation project.
