Since its founding, the United States has gone through only 200 years of history and has developed from a small country in the corner of the Atlantic Ocean into the most powerful "superpower" across the two oceans in the world.A very important reason for such a drastic change is the military activities and military developments in the history of the United States.War,aggression and expansion are even more closely linked to the historical development of the United States. In the history of the U.S.invasion and expansion, the aggression on Indians was an important part. From the 16 th century to the late 19 th century, countless wars with Indians broke out in the history of the United States, including the colonial period. From 1817 to1858,between the United States and the Seminole of Florida in southeastern Florida Three wars broke out, known as the "Seminole Wars." The "Seminole Wars" had been lasted for about 40 years. They were the longest and the most expensive of Indian Wars in the history of the United States, and it's also one of the largest Indian wars in the history of the United States. At the same time, some tactics and strategies formed by the U.S.armed forces during the Seminole Wars have also had some important significance for the U.S.military's development. This article is divided into six parts, five chapters, and it's designed to discuss the Seminole Wars comprehensively:The first part is the introduction, which mainly expounds the origin and significance of the topic of the thesis, and summarizes the study of the Seminole Wars at home and abroad. In the following five parts, the first chapter mainly elaborates on the background of the Seminole war. This chapter begins with a chronological order and briefly reviews the Indian Wars in the history of the United States.Second,it traces the formation process of the Seminole, and summarizes the background of the war from two dimensions of history and reality. The second chapter is mainly about the First Seminole War(1817.11-1819.2).First of all,it briefly describe the war on the Negro Fort. Then it elaborates the process of the war in three stages and analyzes the events of Arbuthnotand Ambrister in the course of the war. Finally,it reviews the conclusion and impact of the war,and points that the result of the war was that the United States seized Florida from Spain in 1819,reducingthe resistance for the white immigrants in the United States who moved to Florida andpaving the way for the next bigger conflict with the Seminole. The third chapter deals with the Second Seminole War(1835.12-1842.5).Different from the first war lasting for less than a year,it lasted for seven years and went through several commanders. At the same time, both the Army and the Navy participated the war,and the war involved many battles and negotiations. Therefore,it is the focus of this article to discuss. As more and more white Americans immigrated to Florida, the United States forced the Seminoles to sign three treaties in order to move them west.In order to defend their homeland, the Seminole people went to the road of armed resistance without hesitation, and they used guerrilla tactics to make the U.S.military paid very much. The U.S.military experienced two stages of regular warfare and guerrilla warfare during the war,and formed an effective strategy to deal with guerrilla warfare. At the same time,in addition to the Army, the U.S.Navy also participated in the war and gradually formed the inland river network tactics.Although the United States achieved victory,it paid a huge human and financial cost.At the same time, most of the Seminoles completed the westward move, but a small part remained in Florida. The fourth chapter briefly discusses the Third Seminole War(1855.12-1858.5)in terms of background, process and ending. At that time, the continued boycott by the Seminoles remaining in Florida led to the third Seminole War.After more than two years of war with the Seminoles, the U.S.military eventually forced the Seminoles to seek peace in 1858,ending the 40-year-long Seminole war.The fifth chapter is an theoretical analysis of the Seminole Wars. This chapter begins with a brief analysis of the outcome of both sides of the Seminole War and analyzes the reasons for the victory or defeat of both sides.Second,it provides a briefoverview of the nature and characteristics of the Seminole wars, and a commentary on this war's impact on the United States and the Seminole people. Finally,it comments on the significance of the Seminole Wars to U.S.military development. The United States paid so much in the Seminole war.Although the United States won this war,it failed to expelall the Seminole people. There are still a few Seminoles who successfully defend their homeland and stay in Florida. The strategy of fighting guerrilla warfare and the tactics of the inland river network formed in the Seminole Wars were applied in many subsequent wars.At the same time, the Seminole Wars laid the prototype for the formation of an overall war strategy and exerted an influence on the application of the means of transport by the U.S.military.In addition, the Seminole Wars also proved that the regular army was the only dependable force that maintains the stability of the country, not the militia.
