The Relationship Between College Students' Adult Attachment And Anxiety:The Mediating Role Of Forgiveness

With the rapid development of the times,the problem of anxiety in college student is becoming more and more important.The problem of anxiety attracts more and more attention of scholars.Some studies have shown a significant correlation between anxiety attachment and anxiety,a significant correlation between avoidance attachment and anxiety a,while a study has found that insecurity attachment(anxiety attachment and avoidance attachment)and anxiety are mediated by emotional regulation.Forgiveness is an important means of emotional regulation.Forgiveness is a positive change in cognition,emotion and behavior.This paper aims to examine the relationship among forgiveness,adult attachment and anxiety.A sample of 240 college students were tested by Experiences in Close Relationships Inventory(ECR),Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)and Heartland Forgiveness Scale(HFS).Results:1? Attachment avoidant and attachment anxiety of college students have no significant difference in gender and grades;anger of college students has no significant difference in gender,anger of college students has significant difference in grades;intrapersonal forgiveness and self-forgiveness of college students have no significant difference in gender,intrapersonal forgiveness of college students has no significant difference in gender,self-forgiveness of college students has no significant difference in grades.2? The relationship of attachment avoidance is significantly positive correlated anxiety,the relationship of attachment anxiety is significantly positive correlated anxiety.3?The relationship of attachment avoidance is significantly negative correlated with intrapersonal forgiveness,the relationship of attachment anxiety is significantly negative correlated with intrapersonal forgiveness;the relationship of attachment avoidance is significantly negative correlated with self-forgiveness,the relationship of attachment anxiety is significantly negative correlated with self-forgiveness.4?Attachment avoidance is significantly negative related to anxiety.While intrapersonal forgiveness mediated the relation between attachment avoidance and anxiety.Attachment anxiety is significantly negative related to anxiety.While intrapersonal forgiveness mediated the relation between attachment anxiety and anxiety.5?Attachment avoidance is significantly negative related to anxiety.While self-forgiveness mediated the relation between attachment avoidance and anxiety.Attachment anxiety is significantly negative related to anxiety.While self-forgiveness mediated the relation between attachment anxiety and anxiety.Based on the above results,it is concluded that college students' forgiveness plays an intermediary role in anxiety and unsafe attachment,and schools can reduce college students' anxiety and enhance the safety attachment of college students by means of forgiveness intervention,such as starting positive psychology courses,...
