On the Origin of Species published on 24 November 1859,is a work of scientific literature by Charles Darwin which is considered to be the foundation of evolutionary biology.With the publication of this work,the way of thinking and understanding about the world and things what it has expressed had a broad far-reaching impact on psychology,and it can even be said that have completely changed psychology.After a century and a half since the publication of Charles Darwin's On the Origin of Species,evolutionary theory undoubtedly has become the bedrock of modern biology;yet,its application to the human mind remains steeped in controversy.Evolutionary psychology,broadly conceived,dates back to Darwin.The vision that he offered at the end of his monumental book,is regarded as the original theoretical source of evolutionary psychology.Evolutionary psychology is a theoretical approach in the social and natural sciences that examines psychological structure from a modern evolutionary perspective.It seeks to identify which human psychological traits are evolved adaptations,that is,the functional products of natural selection or sexual selection in human evolution.The paper begins with a brief introduction of evolutionary psychology,reviews its development history and states its theoretical framework and characteristics of this new discipline.Then,after analyzing the theory of evolutionary psychology,the paper summarizes the contents of universal human nature in evolutionary psychology and dig the significance above.The contents consisted of: universal human nature ismade up of adaptive in evolutionary which means evolved mechanisms of mind,universal human nature is innate not a blank slate,universal human nature is created over evolution,evolved mechanisms of mind is specialized.After that,the problems in universal human nature in evolutionary psychology has been discussed from two different aspects,one is that adaptive in evolutionary is not all the sources of universal human nature,another is that the physical evolution and the mental evolution are two different way that we have to distinguish.Evolutionary psychology aims to turn human nature from a vague idea into a set of precise,high-resolution models of our evolved computational architecture: models that can be cashed out genetically,at the cellular level,developmentally,physiologically,and neurally.But we have to realize that the physical evolution and the mental evolution are different and they may go along different routes,as a biological theory,Darwinism attempt to illustrate how organism evolved under the natural forces,as for human beings,it is suitable only when we use it to explain the natural history progress,not mental evolution.At last,the paper emphasized that it is necessary to clear the concept of mental evolution,and improvise two solutions on the problems in universal human nature in evolutionary psychology: one is that genetic and cultural processes interact over evolutionary and both made influences on human nature,another is the effects of symbol.
