Norway belonged to the pagan world for the Western European Christian civilization till the beginning of the 10th century. However, with the increasingly deep contact with the Christian civilization, the persuasion of the missionaries and the king's promotion,Norway gradually turned to Christianity. The process of conversion to Christianity has not been easy.Christians and pagan forces finally became the official religion of Norway after many struggles. With the increasingly deep Christianization,Christianity exerted an extremely far-reaching impact on Norwegian society. After the conversion to Christianity, the Christian power gradually strengthened. Not only did the organization of the church gradually develop and improve, but it also enhanced its status through reforms and other means. At the same time, under the influence of Christianity,Norway has undergone a series of profound changes in political, economic and social life. With the in-depth development of Christianity,Norway has been integrated into Christian European civilization and has become an important member of the Christian world. This article is divided into four parts:The first part mainly discusses the Norway's original religion during the pre-Christian period and the origins of its conversion to Christianity in Norway. This article believes that Norway's original religious beliefs not only imply the understanding of the world and social order in that era,but also that religion is closely related to the society at that time. With constant association with Christianity, the counsel of missionaries, and the king's push,Norway gradually turned to Christianity. The second part mainly discusses the process of conversion to Christianity in Norway. The process of conversion to Christianity is not always smooth and requires the king and missionaries to push in a top-bottom way.Good Haakon laid the foundation for the spread of Christianity in Norway, but paganism was restored during the reign of Jarl Haakon.King Olaf Tryggvason used the threat of force to convert many regions to Christianity.Eventually, through the efforts of Olaf Haraldsson,Christianity became an official religion. The third part mainly discusses the enhancement of the church's influence after Norway's conversion to Christianity. After Norway's conversion to Christianity, the church organization gradually developed and the church's strength was enhanced. In addition, the church has also improved its strength and status through reforms and cooperation with the king. Therefore, with the perfection of the church organization and the intensity of the church's strength, the time which the early church was affiliated with the monarchy is gone. The fourth part mainly analyzes the influence of Norwegian Christianization.Norwegian Christianization had a profound effect on its political, economic and social life.In terms of politics,Norwegian Christianization and the unity of the kingdom are an influential process in which the Church promotes the process of the unification of Norway and the monarchy is strengthened;with relation to economy,Norwegian Christianization not only promotes the development of agriculture and the concentration of land wealth, but also promotes the urbanization process and trade development of Norway. In addition,Norway has undergone many changes in social life.Social awareness and social conventions have turned to Christianity, worship of saints and pilgrimage activities have begun to emerge.Social relief is also common.
