The research aims to verify the effectiveness of Mind Mapping in English writing teaching on senior high school students' writing achievements regarding to the aspects of content,coherence,vocabulary,grammar and sentence pattern.The research questions to be settled are presented as follows:(1)Can Mind Mapping model of teaching improve students' academic achievements in English writing?(2)Can Mind Mapping model of teaching promote students' writing abilities in terms of content,coherence,vocabulary,grammar and sentence pattern?(3)Can Mind Mapping model of teaching facilitate students' development of writing strategies?The subjects in this research are 80 senior one students.The experimental period began in the mid of July and ended in December 2017,lasting for 5 months.Different research instruments were used in this research,such as English writing tests,questionnaires and interviews.All of data were collected and analyzed respectively with the software of SPSS 20.Before the experiment,the author conducted the in-class tests both in Experimental Class and Control Class,and students' compositions were collected immediately.Based on the writing scores,the Experimental Class and the Control Class were selected.Then the pre-questionnaire with 40 copies was distributed and collected in Experimental Class,the purpose of which was to investigate students' writing problems and the usage of writing strategies;After the experiment,post-tests were carried out in both classes,which aims to verify the effectiveness of Mind Mapping in writing teaching;Finally,the post-questionnaire and interview proceeded in the Experimental Class.The interview was designed to further investigate in which aspects students made progress and to dig out the problems students came across when they were using Mind Mapping.The major research findings are listed as follows:(1)Students' academic achievements were effectively improved by the application of Mind Mapping in English writing.(2)Mind Mapping model of writing teaching could promote students' writing abilities in terms of content,coherence and vocabulary,however,there was no significant difference in grammar and sentence pattern.(3)The employment of Mind Mapping could facilitate students' development of writing strategies to some extent.
