One of the remarkable features of the normative legal documents is that they have plenty of long sentences,particularly in legislative texts.Typically,to ensure the authority and preciseness of legal texts and avoid ambiguity,the English sentences in legal texts always contains a great many qualifiers and modifiers.How to translate the long sentences in legal texts precisely and efficiently is challenging for the translators,and it also directly determines the quality and legal force of the legal text.British Consumer Right Act 2015(Chapter 15)is a kind of English legislative document.By the translation of the British Consumer Right Act 2015(Chapter 15),the writer explores the translation methods applied in the translation of the long sentences in English Legislative documents.The writer firstly summarizes the features and translation methods of long sentences in general style,and then explores the features of long sentences in English legislative documents,and next the writer puts forward four translation methods used in the translation practice,namely literal translation,division,reverse translation and synthesis translation.Finally,the writer makes a conclusion on the paper,and put forward the problems to be solved of the thesis.
