Language proficiency test is closely related to language teaching activities,through which teachers can get information in time,adjust teaching behavior so as to improve and optimize teaching activities.In the teaching activities where Chinese is viewed as a second language,teachers often use proficiency test to keep track of the learning situation of students,check the teaching effect of Chinese and find out the difficulties students run into during learning and accordingly formulate and adjust teaching plan.The Chinese test deserves the attention of every TCFL teacher.Thailand enjoys a long history of Chinese teaching.Since 2003,the Office of Chinese Language Council International has sent 15 batches of Chinese volunteers totaling more than 13,791 ones to Thailand.In 2008,Chinese was included in the optional course of primary and secondary schools in Thailand,and in the PAT(professional aptitude test)of Thailand College entrance examination.With the rapid development of Chinese language teaching in Thailand,the research on Chinese proficiency test,which remains in its initial stage in Thailand,has not attracted enough attention.This paper surveys the present situation of Chinese test in 13 public schools in Loei of Thailand,and puts forward some suggestions on improving it.This paper is divided into six parts.The first part is an introduction,which presents the background,significance,review and methods of the research.The second part gives an overview of the theory of Chinese proficiency test.It mainly expounds the definition,function and the overall design of Chinese test and the validity of language test research.In the third part,the author examines the current situation of the Chinese test of Loei.This part utilizes graph to present the development of the Chinese test in 13 public schools in Loei,the teaching performance of Chinese volunteers and the design and implementation of the test paper by teachers.The fourth part analyzes the survey results and the collected Chinese test papers.It is found that the Chinese test has been paid close attention in the 13 public schools,but lacks standard examination management.Chinese volunteer teachers lack test experience and deep understanding of the role of performance test.Without strict design,the question types of the test paper are mainly about multiple choice and connection,and the content focuses on examining Chinese pronunciation and vocabulary.Moreover,unclear questions and frequent errors remain a concern.Based on the results of survey and analysis,the fifth part proposes some specific suggestions on improving the examination management and test paper design of Chinese test in Loei.In the examination management,this part gives advice in terms of Office of Chinese Language Council International,school and Chinese teachers.In the design of test paper,we suggest that teachers should attach importance to proficiency test,standard design of test paper,master the skill of drawing out test paper,and improve the quality of test paper.The sixth part reaches a conclusion,which summarizes and reflects on the content of this paper.
