Study On The Historical Thought Of Ji WenFu In The Republic Of China

Ji Wenfu(1895-1963),named Ming,whose courtesy name was Wenfu,is a famous philosopher,historian and educator in China.In terms of the historical studies,he had made great achievements in the ancient Chinese intellectual and political history,especially in the field of Chinese ideological history.It was found that the period of the republic of China was the key period for the formation and maturity of his historical thoughts in the course of exploring historical studies.The historical ideology of Ji Wenfu in the period of the republic of China reflected in three aspects in this article: First,his rigorous and honest style of historiography study.He stressed on independent judgment and encouraged doubting the historical essays of former scholars,and also boldly raised objections to the different thesis.He insisted on the theory comes out from the history and never followed the herd or jumped to conclusions.He handed complexity by simplicity in the research of historiography.Highly praised the simple and direct mode of argument and emphasized using of analysis,induction and other historical research methods,Ji didn't like tedious textual research.Second,he had practical thoughts,he especially pursued using ideology,and believed that learning was valuable.He realistic problems expounded the people-oriented thought and the national ideology thought of the ancient thinkers from realistic issues.It shows that he attached great importance to the historical solution of the problem.He also paid attention to the exploration of ancient thinkers' thoughts on the experience of running the country,he was also good at summing up the experience of running the country,so he could make the past serve the present.Third,he believed in historical materialism.His research on the history of Chinese thought mainly adopted the viewpoint of historical materialism.He was skillful in using economic fundamentals,laid stress on using method of class analysis and standing in the people's position to explain the decisive force behind the ideological variations.Ji WenFu,therefore,his historical thought combined microscopic and macroscopic issues,both broad and profound.The study on his historical thought not only helps us deepening the understanding of his academic idea but also has strong guidance and reference significance to the later generations.
