| There are many studies on Foreign Language Anxiety home and abroad,and many of them focus on the following aspects:the relation between Foreign Language Anxiety and other factors such as foreign language learning achievement,foreign language learning strategies and language competence,anxiety about using specific language skills and how to reduce it,as well as the sources of anxiety.Though there are some studies on Foreign Language Anxiety that discuss about the differences between different genders,grades,specialties and language levels,few of them focus on the differences between different genders,grades,specialties and language levels in English Speaking Anxiety levels and sources.Therefore,this study is carried out among senior high students and aims to find out the differences between different genders,grades,specialties and language levels in English Speaking Anxiety levels and sources in classes,hoping that the study can be helpful in doing future research and at the same time offer some possible implications for English teachers in their teaching.It was found that English Speaking Anxiety commonly exists among senior high students and most of them suffer from a low level or medium level of English Speaking Anxiety in classes.It was also revealed that classroom factors meaning the teacher’s teaching behavior and procedures is the main source of their English Speaking Anxiety followed by students’ individual psychological self-awareness.Besides,the study also indicated that there is no significant difference between different genders and grades in their English Speaking Anxiety levels but there is significant difference between different genders and language levels in their sources of English Speaking Anxiety in classes.At the end of the study,some specific suggestions were offered to teachers so that they can help students reduce their English Speaking Anxiety in classes.For example,teachers should know about students’ English Speaking Anxiety levels in time and figure out their sources of English Speaking Anxiety,trying to intervene accordingly. |
