A Report On E-C Translation Of Waste Management And Sustainable Consumption:Reflections On Consumer Waste (Excerpts)

At present,resource waste and environmental problems have become a worldwide problem.Under the background of sustainable development and environmental protection,the strategy of sustainable development and comprehensive utilization of resources around the theme were put forward by lots of countries in the world.For the current resource and environmental problems in China,the improvement of resource utilization and popularization of effective waste management activities have been put in the priority.The original text of the translation project is excerpted from Chapter Four and Chapter Thirteen of the book Waste Management and Sustainable Consumption:Reflections on consumer waste.It mainly introduces the factors affecting development of waste management and experiences from different cultures and suggests supplementing the conventional 3R waste hierarchy:considering the role of carbon rationing.First,the translation report presents a brief overview of the original text,task background and significance,translating process and translation theory.Guided by text typology theory proposed by Peter Newmark,the ST is defined as an informative text and is characterized by formal and logical expressions,and this kind of text aims to deliver accurate information.The case focuses on translation strategies,methods and text style from the perspective of professional term,sentence,title and discourse of such text.To deliver accurate information,communicative translation and semantic translation,appropriate translation methods are involved:analyze parallel text,liberal translation and zero translation of professional terms;transformation of passive sentences;order changing of titles;reserve parallel structure.Finally,the translation project is summarized for self-improvement from the perspective of professional skill and literacy,combination of theory and practice,application of translation aids.The author chooses to translate and introduce the western scientific and technological literature on waste management and sustainable consumption in the process of urbanization,providing great practical significance for China to realize waste recycling and complete the regulatory system of urban waste recycling,constantly update the concept of urban planning and construction,and to the citizens for sustainable consumption.
