A Study On The Labyrinth Narrative In Modiano's Novels Under The Post-modern Perspective

Patrick Modiano had an amazing memory of his childhood.The undecipherable riddle of childhood and the curiosity of the truth behind the war make Modiano's writing appear as a structure of maze.So,with the help of post-modern culture,Modiano placed the rings on small,insignificant figures,and we were able to get close to the real worry hidden in the grand historical narrative from their daily lives.Based on the maze phenomenon in Modiano's novels,and combined with the spatial image group,I scanned and explored the life patterns and mental states of the characters in Modiano's novels under the postmodern perspective.In addition to the introduction and epilogue,the paper is divided into four chapters.The first chapter shows the "daily life" of "Silent Group" in Modiano's novels from the perspective of post-modern history.Modiano's universal sentiments are expressed in the diaries of the daily lives of children,women,and marginalized people about physical desire,love,and the pursuit of aesthetics.The second chapter is devoted to the multilayered narrative structure of the labyrinth text.A chain structure,an orange petallike structure and a nested structure are used to verify the labyrinth temperament in the structure of Modiano's novels.The third chapter reveals that the House is the center of Modiano's labyrinth.Around the spatial image of the House,Modiano describes the fundamental nature of the home and the centripetal force it has.In the exterior of the House and in the inner perspective,the writer's writing has added some French poetry to the real historical speech.The fourth chapter is devoted to the search for the export of the labyrinth.In a typical case of cafes,police stations and roads,Modiano details the humanness,sociality of cafes and police stations,and the micro-trends and anomies in the post-modern context.At the same time,the characters in the novel shuttled through the streets of Paris,clearing the way for the labyrinth to emerge.In conclusion,in Modiano's maze of imagination and truth,he laid the foundations of a journey,cleared the maze of obstacles and paved the way,leading people to the door that leads to the center with his concerned wisdom for those who had lost their way in life.
