English grammar teaching idea and model have been evolving over time.Debate about explicit or implicit approach to grammar teaching has been the hottest.And more researchers support the combination of explicit and implicit approach.Grammar has always been a difficult part for English teaching.The period of middle school,especially high school,is the critical period of English grammar learning.However,the effect of grammar teaching is inefficiency.In addition,the college entrance examination tends to discourse-based test method.So,it is very important to improve the grammar teaching effect by using discourse-based English grammar teaching.Based on focus on form theory and the theory of systemic functional grammar,the author thinks that how to integrate the linguistic form and the meaning in grammar discourse is the key point of solving the inefficient problem in grammar teaching and learning.As the carrier of reflecting the relation between language form and meaning,discourse is the base on which students learn grammar,acquire language form and uses of grammar.To test the effectiveness of discourse-based English grammar teaching,the author carried out the experiment research of English grammar teaching in the two classes of grade two.Firstly,through theoretical analysis,the author proves the feasibility of discourse-based English grammar teaching,and puts forward the teaching principles and teaching ideas that teachers should abide by in the teaching process.Then,with the help of test papers,SPSS and questionnaires,the author conducted the teaching experiment.The teacher adopted the discourse-based English grammar teaching method in the experimental class,and sentence-based English grammar teaching method.Finally,by quantitative analysis,the author verifies the research hypothesis,that is,the grammar teaching based on discourse can improve students' grammar learning more effectively.With the analysis of the test and questionnaire,the author concludes that compared with the grammar teaching based on sentence patterns,discourse-based English grammar teaching can improve the students' grammar learning grades,grammar learning interest and enthusiasm.Through the theoretical and experimental research,the author further verifies theeffectiveness of discourse-based English grammar teaching,enrich and improve English grammar teaching models so as to provide the content of reference.Meanwhile,it can help students adapt to the discourse-based test method.
