As the artwork with practical functions,the royal Thangka in the Qing dynasty constitutes comprehensive carrier of material life and spiritual life of people in the palace in the Qing dynasty,carrying many significance in the field of royal politics,culture,religion,and aesthetics in the Qing dynasty.As a artwork,the strong and divine religion attributes of the royal Thangka in the Qing Dynasty is promoted to a new high with its distinctive artistic features of the times,which manifests the function of delivering the religious information to the supreme royalty through the silent communication between itself and Tibetan Buddhist followers.This thesis takes the aesthetic features and aesthetic connotation of the royal Thangka in the Qing Dynasty as the main research object and takes the source and formation and main types and theme as the entry point through the field investigation and literature research.The thesis also concentrate on the deep aesthetic connotation of the royal Thangka in the Qing Dynasty through taking aesthetic features and aesthetic connotation as the main part to analyze.The power of the Qing Dynasty,which originated in Liaodong region,the northeast China,was growing from the Jurchen tribe of Ming Dynasty,and gradually developed into a regime that included the Manchu,Mongolian,Tibetan,and Han ethnic groups.The Manchu regime,which had its own belief in shamanism,had gradually accepted the beliefs of Tibetan Buddhism for political,economic,and cultural needs.With the development of the times,Tibetan Buddhism had become one of the important religious beliefs of the court.As one of the important ritual items of Lamaism religious activities,the royal Thangka,thus,owned a niche in the religious activities of the Qing dynasty.After the collapse of the regime,the royal Thangka in the Qing Dynasty as one of the historical relics,had been spread so far and gradually entered the public's vision.The first chapter of this article starts from the main sources,types,and subjects of the royal Thangka in the Qing Dynasty and leads to the analysis research of it.The existence of the culture of the royal Thangka in the Qing Dynasty did not happen overnight,but has a very profound and systematic source.A deep research of aesthetics of the royal Thangka in the Qing Dynasty requires a scientific study.This chapter focused on the three aspects: the main types,main themes,and sources.The second chapter systematically analyzes the aesthetic characteristics of the royal Thangka in the Qing Dynasty.On the whole,the royal Thangka in the Qing Dynastynot only has a rich color,simple and elegant line drawing,a solemn and rigorous architectural pattern,and a royal style of decoration,but also has a concentrated expression of multi-ethnic culture integration.Because in the middle and late Qing Dynasty,the contents of the Thangka not only appeared in the image of the emperors of the Qing Dynasty,but also in the form of subtle changes.Although Thangka's details have been constantly evolving and changing,its core spirit,the religious beliefs that reflect the religious beliefs in Tibetan Buddhism,has not changed.In the second part of this chapter,the performance of the royal Thangka in the Qing Dynasty was also examined and discussed.It is mainly related to its realism,expression,exaggeration and distortion in a way of combination of empty and reality,and more intuitively presents the aesthetic In addition to the relatively brief introduction of the outline and aesthetic features of the royal Thangka in the Qing Dynasty.The third chapter focuses on the deep aesthetic connotation contained in it.In the first part,the author studied the aesthetic concepts embodied in the royal Thangka in the Qing Dynasty,namely,the heaven and earth concept of God and man as one,the beauty of harmony in the pursuit of the highest ideal of Buddhism,and the aesthetics of life under religious belief.In the latter part,the aesthetic connotation of the Thangka was explained and demonstrated from the aspects of consolidating imperial power rule,satisfying royal religious beliefs,imperial supervision,cultural exchange,and specific aesthetic perspectives and functions.At the same time,the function of the royal Thangka in the Qing Dynasty was introduced.This article also hopes to comprehensively study the royal Thangka in the Qing Dynasty in order to broaden the horizon and space of the Thangka study,and to make contributions to the relevant theoretical research fields.
