A Linguistic Signature Of Psychological Distancing And The Function In Emotion Regulation

In recent years,studies have shown the relationship between psychological distance and emotion,but the results are not consistent,which also makes it more difficult to explore the inner mechanism.We think that when people are in negative emotion,adaptive behavior is used to weaken the negative emotional experience,but this kind of adaptive behavior also can be to increase helping behavior or seeking instant gratification.If only the subjects were asked to regulate their emotions,would they spontaneously alienate the psychological distance from the object? Can psychological distance play an expected role in emotional regulation? Is it more successful to successfully open the psychological distance in the negative emotion regulation? In this paper,two studies were carried out to investigate the use of the emotional stroop initiation paradigm,and the images were used as the emotional initiation of the subjects,and then the reaction of the words "far" and "near" was tested.The results confirmed that there was an automatic coupling between negative emotion and psychological distance,positive emotion and psychological distance,and the reaction time was significantly less than that of inconsistency when the reaction was consistent.Study 2 when we asked the participants reported their mood of ideas,through the analysis of the language of their ideas,found in emotion regulation they spontaneously opened up their distance,social distance and language and psychological distance is more distant subjects,emotion regulation,the more successful shows that alienate the important role in the process of psychological distance in emotion regulation.
