Ian McEwan enjoys high reputation in the UK,not only because of its debut First Love and Last Rites(1975)which won him a master's degree in literature,but also Somerset Maugham Award he got.His accomplishment is particularly fruitful,and since then,his works have been shortlisted and presented various awards,which have not only sustained the attention of critics,but also gained popularity in the book market,which is a win-win situation.From the early The Cement Garden to the later Atonement and Saturday,the works have become matured and showed the formation and adjustment of the writer's writing style.The work presents the author's thoughts on the common problems of collective society from the early attention to the distorted psychology of human nature.His works pay more close attention to the collective psychological trauma and more general weakness of human nature than to individual distorted abnormal behavior previously.Nuanced,cold and alienated style,which runs through the alienation,is the psychological trauma caused by abnormal behavior of the reflection and consideration.The article aims to explore the psychological trauma embodied in the characters' behavior.First of all,according to the theory of psychological analysis and trauma as the breakthrough point,the problem of what is trauma is raised,the theory of psychological analysis and trauma theory framework expounded,the founding role of Freud explianed,and the possibility of traumatic narrative in literature clarified.Secondly,how Ian McEwan writes about traumatic psychology has been disscussed from three perspectives of historical accumulation,his personal experiences and the social promotion.Thirdly,starting from the content of the text,the author analyzes the behavior of the protagonist's traumatic psychology,and discusses the behavior of the individual's abnormal behavior,interpersonal communication disorder and social collective alienation.He then analyzes the causes of trauma psychology in McEwan's novel from childhood trauma(childhood growth experience),relationship trauma(ethical negligence)and collective trauma(war,class,racial trauma).In the end,this paper further explores the presentations of McEwan's trauma through formal analysis,starting from the analysis of the narrative mode of trauma(person and perspective),the language and structure of narration(irony and meta narration)and the writing style of rhetoric(image,metaphor,etc.),and explores the unique traumatic narrative labyrinth built by the author.From the establishment of the research subject,the framework of the theory,the analysis of the content,the source of creation,and the characteristics of the form,the in-depth analysis is made.Literature is about the meaning of human society and the focus on human nature,and it's the point of the writer's work that never stops searching,and it's also a part of its creation.The paper also points out that the values and the bias of the writer's creation can be further discussed and analyzed.
