In English learning process,writing is often considered as the most disturbing problem for English learners.Nowadays,as for English writing teaching,there still exist a lot of problems in high schools,such as the effect of the traditional methods,the students' negative writing attitudes,and students' lack of writing interest.How to change this situation and how to deal with these problems,many researchers attach great importance to exploring an effective English writing teaching model.It is also an urgent need for not only students but also teachers in high schools.Based on the current English writing teaching situation in high schools,this thesis is to be devoted to finding the effectiveness of Concept Map to English writing teaching in senior high schools.There are two major research questions in this study.First,Can Concept Map improve students' writing ability in senior high schools? Second,Will Concept Map help change students' writing attitude?Based on the assumption that the training of Concept Map can be combined with the teaching of high school English writing,this study involved 60 students of a parade class,Senior Two,in Minle No.1 Senior High School in Gansu province.The author gave the 60 students a 4-month Concept Map training-based experiment on writing teaching.In order to explore the first question,the author used two tests(pre-test and post-test).In order to research the second question,the author used two questionnaires,including a pre-questionnaire and a post-questionnaire.After four months' Concept Map Model training in experiment class,through analyzing the results from the two tests and questionnaires,the author reached the following conclusions: firstly,with the aid of the Concept Map,the students performed much better in English writing.From the results of the post-test,we can see that students' writing is improved in terms of content,organization,language and coherence.Secondly,after four months' Concept Map Model training,Students' attitudes to writing have changed,their fear of writing gradually disappeared and they began to be food of writing and also became more confident in writing.Apart from these,many students can use Concept Map in other ways to learn,such as to analyze the structure of the reading materials in textbooks,to memorize the words and phrases,to recite the texts and so on.By drawing Concept Map,students' creativity thinking is developed gradually.At the same time,students' cooperative awareness has been promoted when participating in the sharing and writing discussion.
