Habermas And Foucault Argue About Modernity

Habermas and Foucault debate on modernity is of the most important events in the modern philosophy,the term modernity since its birth has caused a lot of opinions,since Hegel proposed since the word and its meaning of modernity,the modernity become the philosophers have to face the problem,the problem of modernity is accompanied by certain productive forces and production status,brought by the industrial revolution is not only unprecedented productivity,also has brought the big changes throughout the whole human world,the great transformation from science and technology to the political system and social system,from the person's mental state to social interaction.The problem of modernity is the core issue of the rational,especially since the Renaissance,the enlightenment rational problems,Habermas and divergence of Foucault starting point is on the enlightenment rational attitude,how to understand and evaluate the enlightenment rationality becomes the center of their problems,according to Kant the use of the reason is that people can mature independent reason to open the way for human beings,Habermas thought enlightenment rationality is since the enlightenment through the development of human society has always been,and Foucault think in the traditional sense of the rational cognition,and is limited,it is not complete,real did not get a rational spirit,modernity is not complete but fracture,accidental,it began from the rational division period.In this article the author,from the perspective of the modernity,combed the different philosophers for the understanding of modernity,gradually analysis and trace the fundamental problem of modernity,explore the reason and enlightenment,and the development of rational,on this basis with the view to understand the two philosophers for cuts in the debate on the meaning of modernity,that is,find its rationality,contradiction and unity,through this step by step to search,makes modernity appeared to natural,for us to understand the two philosophers thought connotation of thought and the modernization construction.
