Gender Study Under The Background With Colonization Of The New Continent

This paper selected Colleen Mc Cullough's three representative literature works-The Morgan's Run,The Touch,The Thorn Birds-as the research object.This thesis focuses on the subversion of the traditional masculinity and feminity viewed from the feministic perspective and the gender theory.The thesis aims to attempt on constructing ideal gender traits and the female subject.The introduction of this paper mainly explained Colleen Mc Cullough's life and creation,breifly introduced the three representative literature works-The Morgan's Run,The Call,The Thorn Birds.In addition,after carding the three works' research status at home and abroad,it is realized that the research on Colleen Mc Cullough are mostly journal articles,interview records,publicity materials,and master's thesis.Considered Colleen Mc Cullough's international influence and the richness of creation,it is still lack of research achievements.This selected topic's significance and value lies in: Colleen Mc Cullough recaptured this story in the end of the 20 th century,on the one hand successfully completed the Australian literature globalization.On the other hand,she wrote a new gender issue behind men's epic,let us see the real causes of both sexes tragedy to find a way for the new sexual harmony achievement.Chapter one the author combined with the works,analyzed the characters which generated by the mixture of heroism and male chauvinism: Morgan and Alexander,representative men of masculine authority: Paddy and Bob,and some self-internalized female characters under the traditional gender discipline,to reveal her criticism of the traditional gender temperament.Chapter two researched the fracture of traditional gender temperament,considered the male social discipline harms not only the women,but also bring the men.Another conclusion is that the tragedy of men and women tradition is rooted in traditional gender temperament which generally recognized by the male-dominated society.Chapter three researched the author's ideal of male and female characters,got aconclusion that the author's purpose of deconstructs the traditional gender temperament is to establish a double gender temperament,which is also the way for healthy sexual relationships and achieve the aim of female's subjectivity.In The fourth chapter,the author summarized the significance of Colleen Mc Cullough's gender exploring separately from the historical significance,creative psychology,feminist studies: 1)provided us historical pictures for researching people's survival state in the specific age,2)revealed the important reasons which impacted Colleen Mc Cullough's creation by exploring her childhood experiences,and provided effective cases for the research of creative psychology;3)revealed that the traditional gender discipline is the root cause of the gender discord,only breaking the thinking of gender binary opposition can we achieve the new sexual harmony.The conclusion part summarized the overall writing of the paper,and illuminated the conclusion of the paper: Colleen Mc Cullough developed a wonderful Australian to the modern colonization epic and exploiting tale,based on this subject she succeeded in bringing the color and heat of Australia into the aesthetic domain of world literature.In addition,through the writing of latent gender topic in the process of colonizing,it is concluded that traditional gender temperament is the root of the tragedy.Only restructuring sexual gender temperament and across the boundaries,could move on to a new way of harmony.
