The source text(ST)of this translation report is ZOE:A Cloud-less Dialog-enabled Continuous Sensing Wearable Exploiting Heterogeneous Computation, and the analyzed rendition is independently translated by the translator. The selected colloquium paper firstly delivered in the 13th Annual International Conference on Mobile Systems,Applications, and Services, which in included in Proceedings of the 13th Annual International Conference on Mobile Systems by the Conference Committee. The ST introduces a newly developed wearable device named Zoe and presents its design, implementation and evaluation. The prototype of Zoe applies the type of heterogeneous high-performance computation to this class of wearable device.Through a mixture of hardware-and software-based approaches,ZOE offers a first-of-its-kind user experience by enabling the continuous sensing of a range of deep inferences along with a near real-time dialog system through which users can access captured information. All of this is provided without cloud assistance, providing significant privacy assurances for the user by removing the need for third-party remote computation.ZOE acts as an important reference example for future investigations into the design of the wearables. This translation report begins with describing requirements as well as the significance for this translation task.Besides, this report briefly introduces the ST and analyses its language features. To be more specific, lexical level features the high frequency of technical terms and of nominalization;syntactic level features the high frequency of inanimate subject sentences and of long sentences;textual level features preciseness and rigorousness as the general academic paper.Preparations before the translation task and measures taken after it are narrated in the following parts.Under the guidance of the Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory, this report provides specific translation methods to tackle significant features at lexical, syntactic and textual levels.Such methods include annotation, conversion, adjustment, reorganization, substitution and consistency, etc. Finally, this report summarizes findings as well as limitations of the translation process.By translating this ST,the translator hopes to provoke further domestic sci-tech translation research on wearable device, heterogeneous computation and continuous sensing.
