| Since the implementation of the new curriculum reform,English teaching is no longer a simple transfer of knowledge and skills,and more emphasis has been laid on students’ comprehensive ability training which includes emotional attitudes and values,cultural and historical awareness and learning strategies.The implicit curriculum resources themselves have latent and permeable characteristics so that the development and utilization of the implicit curriculum resources in English teaching is a process which has a subtle influence on the students’ emotion,attitudes and values.More and more scholars have noticed the significant role of implicit curriculum resources in teaching and have made relative studies of the implicit curriculum resources combined with their own teaching practice.However,there are few researches on the utilization of implicit curriculum resources in junior high school English teaching.This paper aims to investigate the current status of the utilization of implicit curriculum resources in junior high school English teaching in Bayannaoer City,analyzed the possible causes and put forward the suggestions.This study is based on theories of implicit learning and second language acquisition.The study was conducted by 200 students and 22 teachers from three junior high schools in Bayannaoer City.The author knew about the current status of utilization of implicit curriculum resources in junior high school English teaching in Bayannaoer City by investigating the awareness of implicit curriculum resources and the utilization of implicit curriculum resources from teachers’ and students’ perspective.The research instruments are questionnaire and interview.The author analyzed the reliability of the questionnaire.The result of SPSS analysis showed that the questionnaire isfeasible and effective.Then the author asked 200 students and 22 teachers to do the questionnaire and randomly selected 20 students to do the interview.After that,the author used SPSS software to count and analyze the results of the questionnaire,summarized and analyzed the interview results.The author put forward the research findings and suggestions on the base of the results of questionnaire and interview.After investigation and analysis,the research results obtained by the author are discussed as follows: First,teachers and students do not have a deep awareness of the implicit curriculum resources of the material environment and the status of the utilization is poor.Second,the English learning atmosphere needs to be strengthened.Third,the class evaluation reward system is not perfect.Fourth,the teacher-student relationship needs to be improved and teachers and students are short of interaction.Fifth,the overall student-student relationship is relatively ideal,but students are short of interaction after class between each other.Sixth,teachers and students need to strengthen the use of learning strategies,cultivating of cross-cultural awareness and the use of generation resources.Seventh,students and teachers don’t have enough awareness of the importance of extracurricular activity resources and the form of extracurricular activities students and teachers participate is too single.According to the above discussion results,the author proposed the following suggestions.First,schools and teachers should actively create a material environment that is conducive to English teaching and try to create a space atmosphere for English learning.Second,teachers should actively create a spiritual environment that is conducive to English teaching and try to enhance the cultural atmosphere of learning English.Third,teachers should strive to improve English teaching behavior and fully exploit the potential resources in the English teaching process.There are still some deficiencies in this study,but the research results will bring some inspiration and reflection to the utilization of the implicit curriculum resources in junior high school English teaching in Bayannaoer City. |
