With the rapid development of our economy,more and more skilled workers are needed.The reason why the author chose Career and Technical Educational Standards(CTE Standards)is to introduce mature career and technical education standards to the public,making a contribution to the building of our own standards in China.CTE Standards is created by The American National Board for Professional Teaching Standards(National Board).It specifies what kind of knowledge and ability in both professional and cross-disciplinary field a CTE teacher should possess to meet the standards of an accomplished CTE teacher.It makes sure that led by the accomplished CTE teachers,students are well prepared for their future careers.During the process of translation,the author found that the source text is rich in terminology in different areas.In addition,long and complex sentences are frequently used to illustrate the quality and knowledge required for an accomplished CTE teacher.The source text belongs to the Informative Text Type according to its text feature.Under the guidance of Katharina Reiss’ s Text Typology Theory,the author referred to a lot of materials to convey the right meaning of terminologies in the source text.The author adopted the “plain prose” strategy and proper translation methods and strategies,such as free translation,division and conversion,to transmit the information of the CTE Standards in an explicit and plain way.
