A Study On The Literary Creation Of Chinese Journal Of New Women

In 1907,Yan Bin,Liu Qingxia,and other female students from Henan Province who studied in Japan,founded Chinese Journal of New Women in Japan in order to promote the enlightenment of women and the promotion of equality between men and women.A total of six issues of the China New Women’s Journal were released and this journal was closed down by the Japanese Metropolitan Police Tepartment because of publishing articles with violent tendencies such as "Women should use assassination as a means of carrying out revolutions" in the sixth issue."Chinese Journal of New Women " is a journal with the largest circulation by female students studying in Japan.The main writers are Lianshi,Zhuankun,Qingru,Foqun,Zhang Zhujun and so on.Yan Bin(pen name: Lianshi),as the leading writer,published a large number of poems and songs in this journal,which reflected the ideological tendency and literary achievements of this journal.Through Yan Bin’s literary creation,we can clear up the overall context of the early Chinese feminist acceptance,and explore the connotation and significance of "Female Memberod of a Nation".Therefore,the literary creation of " Chinese Journal of New Women is an important model to explore the literary and ideological values of the educated women in the late Qing Dynasty.The enlightenment of women’s rights of the late Qing Dynasty,Yan Bin was one of the quite active educated women.Her feminist claims were mainly embodied in founding journals and literary creation of Chinese Journal of New Women.Compared with the radical nationalistic stance of women’s journals such as China Women’s Daily at that time,Chinese Journal of New Women was a more moderate reformist,so Qiu Jin accused this journal of "not daring to speak out".As a matter of fact,’it possesses both a distinct feminist thought and a hidden nationalism.This complexity is a reflection of the mainstream thoughts of the society at that time.
