Critical thinking,regarded as one of several learning and innovation skills essential to prepare students for post-secondary education and the workforce in 21st,has been the focus of the academic world.What critical thinking is,why it matters and how it develops are three major research fields.How to turn the critical thinking in theory into the visible critical thinking performance in classroom is what teachers most focus on.The purpose of this study is to explore the feasibility and effectiveness of integrating reading and writing to foster senior high school students'CT in EFL class.To this end,a pre/post-test control/experiment design was adopted.The integrated reading and writing instruction was employed as the intervention.The Ennis-Weir Critical Thinking Essay Test was chosen as a critical thinking measuring instrument.Independent samples t-test was used to analyze the impact of the integrated reading and writing instruction on senior high school students'critical thinking in EFL class.The results of this study show that the integrated reading and writing instruction can be effective in cultivating senior high school students'critical thinking and that the critical dispositions and abilities involved in test items were affected differently.Enlarging the student samples and increasing the experiment time are suggested for the future research.
