Complexity is one of the characteristics of learners' language development and it is an important reference to measure the output of spoken language.Learners with higher language complexity have a larger number of language structures and the ability to use them quickly, while learners lack of grammatical complexity have only a small amount of basic structures to use. When the latter need to satisfy their higher level of communication and emotional requirement, they will often meet difficulties. However, the improvement of complexity is often neglected in the field of Chinese as a second language currently. At home, studies about the complexity of Chinese spoken language and the description of oral language ability are very limited. Therefore,we chose language complexity as the research topic and intermediate level South Korean students as the research object. And we used learners' oral corpus to analyze their lexical and syntactic complexity.Through our research,we found that in terms of lexical diversity, learners are able to express freely and output more various types of vocabulary, especially nouns and verbs, but their usage on function words is quite limited. In terms of vocabulary difficulty, intermediate Chinese learners generally depend on the vocabulary of primary level. In addition, there are correlations among lexical complexity subdimensions. In terms of syntactic complexity, the basic unit length of learners is about 13,and the clausal density is about 1.62.A basic unit is composed of three syntactic components on average. In general, the sentences are not long and the syntactic structure is relatively simple. Also, the basic unit length of learners is related to the clausal density and the type of syntactic composition. It is found that the basic unit of output of intermediate Chinese learners is relatively simple, and complex sentence structures are rarely found. At last,on the basis of the research,we put forward some teaching suggestions for improving the oral complexity of intermediate Chinese learners and improving their oral Chinese, including to create a real and natural context,to build a network of intermediate and advanced vocabulary,to practise talking with long sentences and to pay more attention to logical exercices.
