A Study Of Two Moral Construction Paths In Neo-confucianism From Letters About Middle(?????)

"Letters about Middle" was written by Cheng Yi,a Neo Confucian scholar of the Northern Song Dynasty and his student Lv Dalin,on the "Middle","Nature","Tao" and so on in the “The Doctrine of The Mean”.As far as its content is concerned,Cheng and Lv discussed about the meaning of "Middle","Middle" and "Nature","Middle" and "Tao".The differences between the two views reflect the two directions of the construction of morality.Lv Dalin believes that the "Middle" is used to describe the impartiality of nature,and the formation of morality is to keep inner impartial in the matter.Through a series of inferences,such as "Middle is unbiased","Medium is Nature" and "the Tao comes from Middle” and so on,Lv Dalin's moral construction was finally presented as a "keep middle" theory based on the nature of virtue.However,Cheng Yi thinks that when one's joy and sorrow did not happen,it is called inside.And when happened and presented unbiased,it is called Middle.Human nature contains two levels of sexual and natural nature,and the unbiased middle section is a possibility of human nature.The formation of morality is the process of timely middle by "conserve with respect" and " acquire knowledge by studying phenomena ".Therefore,by dividing the "Zhong" into two meanings,the impartial middle has been regarded as the moral of Tao and the possible of human nature,and Cheng Yi's moral construction process was presented as a "timely middle" theory based on sense.The different applications of virtue and sense between Cheng's and Lv's moral construction also reflect the two dimensions of the moral construction mechanism of the Neo Confucianism,and the two have also developed in the philosophical framework of Zhu Xi and Wang Yangming.If Lv Dalin and Cheng Yi attach importance to the inherent virtue and the acquired rationality in the moral construction mechanism respectively,then the philosophical framework of Zhu Xi and Wang Shouren reflects the effectively interaction between virtue and sense.Finally,between virtue and sense,the moral construction paths of Neo Confucianism are formed.
