Trio Op.150,written in 1938,is the last one of Amy Beach's twelve chamber works with piano. The work was inspired by her previous works, including an art song,Alone!(Op.35,No.2),three piano works: Morning Glories(Op.97,No.1),Suite for Two Pianos(Op.104),and The Returning Hunter(Op.64,No.2),and an Inuit melody, the Song of a Padlimio.Contrast in the three movements is well placed and effective.Key relationships are close. The beauty of its melodies is unsurpassed, and the balance of the ensemble writing is superb. The premiere took place on 1939 at the MacDowell Club in New York.Several performances in concert were given following the premiere. This article is written in three parts. The overall style of Amy's works is discussed in the first chapter: first, there is a brief introduction to the social background and to Amy beach;then there is an analysis to characteristics of her works;and finally, the overall style of her works will be presented. The second chapter introduces the background of the Trio, with a brief analysis of its form and theme. After the literature study and the theoretical analysis of the work, the third chapter will discusses the performance characteristics of the Trio from four aspects: tempo, dynamics, tone and pedal, combining the author's personal practice.
