Listening is not only a major form of communicative activity,but also one of the essential language skills.Improving the effectiveness of listening teaching and promoting students' listening ability is one of the important fields to which English teaching researchers pay close attention.But there are a lot of difficulties in high school listening teaching,such as finite teaching time,outmoded teaching class,single teaching method,insufficient attention,difficulties to improve students' listening ability,low interest in learning,listening anxiety and so on.in high school listening.As an effective teaching strategy,scaffolding teaching,based on the construction of "proximal development zone",has been broadly used in teaching reading and writing,but the research on listening teaching is rare.This study attempts to explore the application of scaffolding teaching method in English listening teaching and its effectiveness in improving students' listening performance.The study designed English listening teaching procedures based on the scaffolding teaching method in a high school of Jiangsu.This study took 120 students of grade one as the research subjects and carried out a ten-week teaching experiment.The effects of scaffolding teaching on students' listening attitudes and listening ability were investigated by questionnaires,tests and interviews.The research finds: 1)Compared with traditional English listening teaching,scaffolding teaching can change students' learning attitude.Based on the "proximal development zone",the dynamic scaffolding and Scaffolding Teaching strategy is helpful to stimulate and improve the enthusiasm and interest of students' listening learning,to build students' confidence in learning,to reduce the anxiety and fear of listening practice,and to help students to turn negative attitudes into positive attitudes.It also can stimulate students' willingness to cooperate and enhance learner autonomy;2)The scaffolding teaching is effective to improve students' listening ability.By setting the situation,entering the situation,exploring independently,implementing cooperative learning and evaluation,students are better cultivated good learning habits,and establish suitable listening learning styles and rhythm,and improve learning abilities.Thus effectively improvetheir English listening competence.This study provides guidance for high school students in English listening teaching from an empirical perspective.Based on the construction of "proximal development zone",this paper provides a reference for teachers to use scaffolding teaching method by designing scaffolding teaching experiments,thus realizing the interface between scaffolding teaching and listening teaching.Therefore,this paper not only has theoretical value,but also has practical guiding significance.
