The curriculum standard for senior high school English emphasizes the subjective status of students.Only by truly participating in teaching activities can students realize the construction and development of their subject.At the same time,the ten-year development plan of education information(2011-2020)calls for the further integration of information technology and education.Multimedia has become one of the important means of English teaching.In order to improve students’ participation in the process of multimedia-assisted English teaching in senior high school,basing on the student involvement theory and constructivism learning theory,the author selected 251 students in Grade One and Grade Two of Y senior high school in Yingtan as the research objects.Observation and questionnaire were used to explore the present situation of students’ participation in the process of multimedia-assisted English teaching in senior high school.Besides,the author finds the problems of student engagement and puts forward some corresponding countermeasures.Conclusions are as follows: Firstly,the thesis discusses the current condition of student engagement in multimedia assisted English instruction in senior high school from general situation and specific perspectives.From the overall situation,the classroom atmosphere is warm and students have many opportunities to participate in the activities.From the view of specific dimension,the students’ behavior participation is great.In addition,students tend to use deep-level strategies to participate in English learning in cognitive participation.Multimedia enhances students’ sense of interest and accomplishment in emotional participation.Besides,The relationship between behavioral participation and cognitive participation is relatively remote.However,there is a close relationship between students’ sense of interest and accomplishment in emotional participation and behavioral participation.Meanwhile,cognitive participation and emotional participation are closely related.Secondly,the problems of student engagement in multimedia assisted English instruction in senior high school are as follows: the initiative of students’ participation is not high;students’ negative emotion of cognitive participation is strong;teachers are not good at using questions to create opportunities for students to participate in the teaching activities;teachers’ ability of using multimedia needs to be improved.Thirdly,according to the present situation and problems of multimedia assisted English instruction in senior high school,the author puts forward recommendations from the teacher’s point of view.
