| Because the purpose of foreign language teaching is to cultivate students’ communicative competence,teaching activities should be carried out around this purpose.However,with the influence of examination-oriented and traditional education,most of the English teaching in the middle school in China still attaches importance to knowledge instead of training students’ language competence.Still the majorities of listening teaching in the middle school often become a mere formalization so that the development of students’ listening ability could not reach the requirements of new curriculum standard.Due to the disadvantages that exist in English listening teaching in China,the ministry of education promulgates the “new curriculum standard” and puts forward new requirements to the English listening teaching in the middle school.All above requires people to promote the listening teaching reform.As a group of psychologists,education experts and linguists research on foreign language teaching further,people more and more realize that educators should be most concerned about the learner’s learning methods.Then scholars put forward the concept of student-centered class.Student-centered teaching concept points out that language teaching which only relies on the teacher’s explanation has difficulty in improving the students’ communicative competence and students can better express their ideas and feelings only through their internalization and absorption of language knowledge,which is in keeping with the principle of interactive foreign language teaching.Interactive listening model believes that listening is not only a kind of language competence,but also a positive and creative activity.Therefore,listening comprehension is an active mental cognitive process and also a complex process that people should process and handle the information they hear rapidly.It means people should interact with listening materials.In addition,listening comprehension is still a synergy result from all sorts of language competence,background knowledge and thinking ability.Therefore,on the premise of absorbing the research achievements of predecessors,this research tries to apply the interactive language teaching to English listening class in the middle school so as to find out a kind of practical and valuable teaching methods to help students improve their listening comprehension and communicative competence.In this research,through the interviews and questionnaire survey from 50 English teachers and 300 students in three middle schools in Luoyang,this research makes out the present status of middle school English listening teaching and sees that students have some difficulties in language knowledge,background knowledge,strategies,skills,emotional factors,etc during their listening.Then this research expounds the significance of interaction and the implementation principles and strategies in English listening teaching in the middle school which starts from the importance of listening in English teaching and is guided by the important theories of language learning,such as constructivism and the theory of input and output.At last,the research affirms the significance of interactive listening teaching.The application of interactive model in English listening teaching in the middle school can promote the improvement of students’ listening competence as well as their comprehensive language competence and the formation of their positive emotions to listening.Of course,this research also points out that people should make a further inspection on the influence of interactive listening teaching through teaching practice. |
