Research on”Beardsley”or”New woodcuts”,most of them are studied separately and rarely connected to systematic research.Due to the continuous broadening and cross-boundary of lu xun's research field,some new viewpoints and theories have provided the possibility of further research on the “Beardsley-New woodcut movement”.This article is mainly divided into three parts: reserch and discussion of the "Beardsley-Lu Xun-New Woodcut Movement".The first part gives an overview of the research of Beardsley and his art tour.The end of the 19 th century was a period of turmoil.The time that beardsley lived was in the late period of Queen Victoria's rule.At that time,Britain had constructed a serious and decent moral system.This was just a fig leaf of gorgeous bourgeois aristocrat.In order to change the status of social pseudo-ethics,Britain has emerged a group of decadent aestheticism represented by Oscar Wilde and Beardsley.Beardsley erotic and decadent “flowers of evil” blossomed in late Victorian,openly resisted the Queen's moral power,this move was shocking his era.In the 1920 s and 1930 s,China was also turbulent.The invasion of Western powers brought cultural shocks,Various Western cultural trends flooded into China.The decadent aestheticism of Beardsley was also entering Chinese people's horizon in the background of this era.After introducing Beardsley,it was like a hurricane that engulfed the Chinese literary world at that time and attracted the attention of many intellectuals including Lu Xun.The second part discusses the influence of Beardsley on Lu Xun.From the perspective of time,Sort out Lu Xun's understanding of the whole process of Beardsley.Lu Xun and his younger brother had been very likely to meet Beardsley during their stay in Japan.After they returned home,LuXun purchased numerous books about Beardsley through various channels proved that Lu Xun's emphasis onBeardsley.Second,it summarizes the common points of Lu Xun's cultural thoughts and the thoughts are in common with the decadent aestheticism cultural thoughts.From the late Qing Dynasty to the “May 4th” period,the society was complex and turbulent.Lu Xun,who has a deep sense of national misfortune,decided to use the road of enlightenment in the literary and art-improving society to strive to explore a road to modernization that belongs to China.As one of the Western advanced cultural trends of thought,the decadent aestheticism cultural trend has entered China.The new culture mainly accepts its rebelliousness and individualism.Finally,it analyzes the concrete manifestation of decadent aestheticism and Beardsley in Lu Xun's literature.Lu Xun's "Wild Grass" took a lot of decadent and gloomy thoughts from Baudelaire,causing "Wild Grass" to have a strong tendency of decadent aestheticism.In the ‘Caste Sword',the shadow of Beardsley's Salome is even more obvious.The scenes of the second kiss and the climax of the story are similar.Although "Wild Grass" and "Caste Sword " are slightly decadent,what is behind this decadence is a strong rebellion.The third part explains Beardsley's indirect influence on New woodcuts.New Woodcut Movement is an enlightening,modern,and revolutionary national cultural movement advocated by Lu Xun.Lu Xun has always translated the western literature with the dream of enlightenment,aiming to make enlightenment for the people,for the nation,and for the country.In order to nurture and strengthen the road to the creation of Chinese modern woodcuts,The article first comprehensively reviews the cultural background of New woodcut,the origins of Lu Xun's advocacy of new woodcuts,and the contribution to New woodcut.Then discussing the specific commonality of Beardsley's artistic thoughts in the esthetic thought of printmaking advocated by Lu Xun.Finally,take the youth painter as an example to discuss in depth the artistic expression of Beardsley in New woodcut.The creative style of young printmaking artist in the early period new woodcuts was more individualized,although this personalization was influenced by Western cultural trends.When the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan,young printmaking artists with patriotic enthusiasm joined the ranks of the anti-Japanese salvation team,and woodcuts were eventually transferred from the initial ‘propaganda and education' to propaganda to ‘survival and salvation'.
