Throughout the ages,landscape painting has been accompanied by the development of Chinese painting and changed with the evolution of The Times.Since the 19 th century,great changes have taken place in Chinese painting,and the evolution is divided into two ways.One is represented by Huang Binhong and Pan Tianshou.They insisted that painting should return to tradition and pursue the true nature in the traditional pen and ink expression.The other one is represented by Lin Fengmian,Xu Beihong.It aims to express and describe the objective reality through the western rigorous realistic system.They insisted that we should return to nature while sticking to the traditional pen and ink,and explore the path of fusion between China and the west in the western realism mode.But no matter what,both the two ways consider life painting as a very important link.By the early 1950 s,Chinese paintings were constantly developing and innovating on the way to life painting.Life painting is different from sketch and pencil sketch,and it is also different from the traditional view of painting,which concentrates on the beautiful mountains and rivers,aiming at watching by eyes and remembering by heart.Live painting from life a kind of art that tries to put the whole process of sketching into the real natural environment.That is to say,to add the natural changes and the transformation of time and space into the emotional experience of the painter,making the sketching less experiences,but more real.Live painting from life requires the painter to describe the image directly with ink material in the real natural environment and form a more complete picture.This needs to mobilize the author's full range of feelings,including the geographical environment,the climate change,the feelings of the culture-enriched customs and so on.It is a full and comprehensive touch of the whole nature.On this basis,we can experience and extract artistic conception,and choose the artistic expression with its formal characteristics and special aesthetic feelings to create the inner artistic conception.Livepainting from life requires the painter to have the ability to apply and transform traditional pen and ink.And through the perception of the scene of the object,to change the traditional pen and ink skills reasonably,conforming to the basic rules of pen and ink.The application of pen and ink should belong to the visual sense of the scene,including location management and conception composition.In this case,the way of pen and ink is bound to show the difference between live painting from life with traditional paintings.“Paint from life,change for reality”-When the painter feels the object,he needs to change himself with the change of the object.For example,under the conditions of different climates,different places and different seasons,the painter's feelings may change at the same time.Both the brushwork and the mode of composition should belong to the visual sense of the scene,that is to say," change for reality ".Despite the modern painters' live painting from life and the ancient people's view on "in the heart of the source" have something in common," change for reality " emphasizes that the artist's cognition of objects is no longer a single fixed feeling,but a unique feeling based on different emotions and subjects caused by objects in different conditions and environments.Live painting from life expands the theme of expression,enriches the artistic language,and strengthens the personal scene experience and the pen and ink expression,based on the choice of painting objects and the research of pen and ink expression.Its connotation is constantly enriched in the long-term artistic practice and development.Live painting from life is not only the discovery of the beauty of life,but also the sublimation of self emotion.The development of live painting from life has provided a beneficial angle to the research,creation,inheritance and innovation of contemporary Chinese landscape painting.
