Study On The Evolution Of The Pronunciation And Meaning Of Chinese Characters With New Pronunciation After Guangyun

In the three stages of the development of phonology,the sound of Medieval Chinese is the pivot of deducing the sound of Ancient Chinese and inferring the sound of Early Modern Chinese.And Guangyun,as the representative rhythmic dictionary of Qieyun System,is the pivot of the study on the sound of Medieval Chinese.The paper analyzed the evolution of Chinese Characters with new pronunciation after Guangyun based on large-scale historical expounding Hanyu Da Zidian(2^nd edition),to explore the general rules of the evolution of Chinese sound and meaning since medieval times.Firstly,340 Chinses characters are extracted from the Hanyu Da Zidian(2^nd edition)which includes 6260 characters in total,and then sort out of the summary table of phonetic evolution in various periods for 340 Chinese characters since medieval times.Secondly,a key study was carried out on radical Tu which includes 83 characters in total.They were classified into two categories for analysis according to whether new pronunciation of those characters can be appeared in modern phonetics.In the course of its complex development,new pronunciation can be produced and remained in the modern Chinese is mostly from its close integration with social development,whether it is produced for the meaning of dialect words?toponymical words,or loanwords from Traditional Chinese characters.The implication of these words under the new pronunciations has always played a so irreplaceable pragmatic value in the social development that they can remain in the modern Chinese.In addition,there are some new pronunciations of the characters on radical Tu disappeared off the modern Chinese.Under different times,our communication language also has different characteristics of the times,whether the differentiation of sound and meaning of variant Chinese characters,or the demise of sound and meaning owing to the change of name under different administrative divisions,or the meaning of pronunciation is no longer used by people with the development of the society.The characters on radical Tu,led by the character Tu,has a strong ideology system,it always has a close connection with human life in different times.But there is a lack of the study on the sound and meaning evolution of the characters on radical Tu from the view of phonology.Through the phonological study of the characters on radical Tu,this analysis provides the basis for the study about the information of phonetics and meaning of Chinese language dictionaries obtain automatically,and also helps to promote the electronic storage of Chinese ancient books,making it easier for the future study on these ancient books.
