A Study On Chinese Neologisms In 2015 From The Perspective Of Memetics

With the development of society and the prevalence of network culture,neologisms that reflect the rhythm of era are emerging.Since “Language Situation in China:2005” issued by National Language Committee in 2005,there are 12 reports until the year of 2016,recording the development of annual neologisms and arousing many scholar's research enthusiasm.There are many domestic studies on Chinese neologisms,which constantly develop and enrich the studies on Chinese neologisms.However,the annual studies on Chinese neologisms mainly focus on the definition,causes,word formation,word family,translation and teaching from the perspective of traditional linguistics and sociology,which lacking further theoretical explanation.Articles combining with memetics are few,and memetics often applied to network words,Chinese catch words and loanwords.Therefore,this paper try to broaden the scope of memetic explanation,using memetics to interpret Chinese neologisms in 2015 based on “Language Situation in China:2016”.Meme as the basic unit of cultural transmission has a strong explanatory power for Chinese neologisms.Bringing the concept of meme into Chinese neologisms,we can view every neologism as a meme.The author mainly discusses the types,generate reasons and ways of replication and transmission of Chinese neologism memes in 2015.Then it makes a comprehensive analysis on the overall trend of Chinese neologism memes from 2006 to 2015,proving that memetic framework on the analysis of Chinese neologisms is feasible and reasonable.The main contributions of this paper are as follows: first of all,my study proves that memetics has a strong vitality in interpreting Chinese neologisms which broaden the scope of memetic explanation.Secondly,it is beneficial for people to understand and use language by studying the classifications,generate reasons and ways of Chinese neologism memes replication and transmission within memetic framework.Finally,Chinese neologisms are full of rich flavor of the times that reflect all aspects of society.The systematic analysis on Chinese neologisms in 2015 makes a contribution on the similar study for other language learners.
