Cultural Default And Translation Compensation In Situation Comedy

Movies and televisions were known to be the carrier of the country's culture,therefore the spread of movie and television works helps promote the cross-cultural communication.However,the existence of cultural differences between countries and nations leads to the cultural default in subtitle translation.In subtitle translation,the existence of cultural default caused by cultural differences can easily establish difficulties in following the stories of movie and television works.In the same time,affecting the viewing experience of the audience.This thesis is based on the subtitle translation of Young Sheldon.Its aim is to help the translator improve the delivering of cultural information as well as to help improve the viewing experience of the audience through classifying the natural characteristics and restriction of subtitles,analyzing and distributing the cultural loaded words causing the cultural default in the subtitle,evaluate the translation compensation used in solving the cultural default and come out with possible solutions.In the meantime,the thesis also aims to provide the translator of Young Sheldon Season Two some effective solutions in dealing with cultural default,so to help the audience understand the beauty of western culture.
