With China becoming increasingly internationalized,oral English is becoming more widely used.Although people's regards on English has become higher than before,many students still feel over-anxiety when speaking English.For high school students,which are entering colleges and universities,furthering their study abroad has become one choice of importance.Their anxiety towards speaking English could hinder their continuous progress in English and even limit their life choices and future development.Thus,the factors influencing foreign language anxiety is being noticed by researchers.This study intended to explore the relation between L2 Motivational Self-System,irrational beliefs,emotion regulation strategies and L2 Speaking Anxiety in high school students to provide theoretical and practical support for lowing the foreign language anxiety of high school students and promote their English proficiency.Results of the 175-student research are as follows:1.In terms of foreign language anxiety,male students have higher scores in low self-esteem,low activity and avoidance,while female students score higher in communication apprehension.Social science students have lower L2 Speaking Anxiety than nature science students,and they score lower in low self-efficacy and low self-esteem.2.Female students have clearer ideal L2 communicator image than male students and social science students have clearer ideal L2 communicator image than nature science students.3.Male students are more prone to use suppression than female students.4.Ideal L2 communicator score is positively correlated with reappraisal strategy use.The ideal L2 communicator score is negatively related with L2 speaking anxiety.The ideal L2 communicator score is positively related to ought-to L2 self.The irrational belief score is positively related with expression suppression.The irrational belief score is positively related to L2 Speaking Anxiety.5.The irrational belief score positively predicts L2 Speaking Anxiety,and ideal L2 communicator negatively predicts L2 Speaking Anxiety.6.Irrational beliefs mediate the relation between expression suppression strategy and L2 Speaking Anxiety.Ideal L2 communicator completely mediates the relation between reappraisal and L2 Speaking Anxiety.7.We should promote clear image of ideal L2 self of students by reducing their irrational beliefs on oral English in order to lower their foreign language anxiety and make them practice English more actively.
