Although the assessment of interpreting results has shown dynamism and complexity,it has gradually formulated some interpretation norms recognized by most people in the academic community. As the final assessment conclusion for the interpreting process, vague target language is the interpreting output made by interpreters' judgement based on linguistic organization and language expression. This thesis is based on the case analysis of consecutive interpreting from Chinese to Arabic of a mock conference, during which Professor Zhang Weiwei from Fudan University delivered a speech entitled Chinese,Be Confident. After careful comparison between source language and target language,as well as an independent examination of the interpretation text, the author has classified the reasons for vague target language into the following categories, for example, lack of deverbalization performance, missing structural information, mispronunciation and improper pause. The author makes comprehensive analysis based on specific examples, and proposes revised version for each of them.In order to cope with the problem of vague interpretation, focusing on linguistic organization and language expression, the author proposes practical strategies, which mainly include improving target language organization ability, preventing omission of essential words, fostering habit of correct pronunciation, putting output fluency into self-monitoring and evaluation of interpreting results. This thesis is based on the comparative analysis of source language and the author's interpretation with the purpose to help interpreters deal with vague language and improve output quality from linguistic organization and language expression aspects. It is hoped that this study can help improving Chinese-Arabic interpreting quality and efficiency in the future.
