Research On Ethical Thoughts In The Analysis And Comment On Analects Of Confucius

For more than 2,000 years,Confucianism founded by Confucius has formed a unique Confucian cultural circle through constant influence and dissemination,which refers not only to China,but also to the culture influenced by Confucianism all over the world.Vietnam,as a neighboring country of our country,was influenced by Confucian culture as early as more than 2,000 years ago.Its historical traces are indelible,and Confucian culture has become an important part of Vietnamese traditional culture.The Analysis and Comment on Analects of Confucius is a book edited by Vietnamese scholar Fan Ruanyou according to his own reading of the Analects of Confucius.This book not only discovers Confucius' original intention and elucidates his new interpretation of himself,but also contains profound ethical thought,which is not only the ethical thought contained in the Analects of Confucius,but also the ethical expectation of local Confucian scholars to Vietnam.This book changes the original chapter of The Analects of Confucius and rearranged it into Sheng,Xue,Shi and Zheng.The style is unified and structure is compact.Ethics and mottos of Confucius is recorded in the former chapter and the words and deeds of his followers are recorded in the latter chapter.It intuitively showed the moral ideal of the author Fan Ruanyou's admire to sages and the political ideal of protecting the people with virtue.Fan's moral ideal and political ideal are exactly the Confucian ethics of combining morality with politics required by Confucian school.In fan's view,the so-called sageliness within is to explore the heaven low and integrate them into one.The so-called kingliness without is to apply heaven law to the governance of the country to make the just cause popular in the world.The method of obtaining the heaven law is the practice of obtaining knowledge by investigation of thingsIn the first chapter,Fan described Confucius in lots of words,because in his view,Confucius as a saint is an integrated part of heaven law,so describing Confucius is describing heaven law.As an abstract metaphysical heaven law,it is revealed through the concrete image and words of Confucius,that is,to tell scholars what heaven law is and also to express his desire for admiring sage.Heaven law prevails in the world means that the ruler should govern with virtue.In Fan Ruanyou's view,the ideal politics should be the combination of morality and politics,and the ideal ruler himself is also a saint who follows heaven law,matching morality with his position,so that the world can maintain long-term peace and stability.At the same time,Fan believes that everyone can be sanctified to gain heaven law,and how to sanctify is to perfect his own virtue through his own moral practice,thus entering the state of saint.Placing the sageliness within first and then the kingliness is to implement benevolence,and the inner benevolence is the cultivation of the mind.However,if it should be achieved gradually,from filial piety to mourning and even faithfulness,and finally policy of benevolence can be realized.The kingliness without is a kind of moralizing politics,which is to unify morality in politics.Therefore,those who serve as officials should act according to law in their own way.With this idea that practice gains knowledge,it is possible for the sageliness and the kingliness without to be realized.Although most of Fan's ethical thoughts are based on Zhu Zi's ethical thoughts,as Vietnamese Confucian scholars,we can still find many unique Vietnamese cultures and customs in his writings.China's Confucianism has been introduced into Vietnam for more than 2000 years.Confucianism permeates Vietnam's politics,folk customs and culture.Through the exploration of the ethical thought in the Analysis and Comment on Analects of Confucius,we can find that Vietnamese Confucians' recognition to China's Confucian ethical thought and regard it as their guiding ideology in life.At the same time,they also regard the political thought in China's Confucian ethical thought as their political ideal,hoping to build their own country through the kingcraft of combining morality with politics.Although Fan Ruanyou,author of the Analysis and Comment on Analects of Confucius,like most Vietnamese Confucian scholars,has adopted the way of discussing Chinese Confucian classics instead of creating,we can still see from the text the differences between Fan and Chinese Confucian ethics,especially in the view of men and women and the view of loyalty to the Emperor.The author tries to understand Vietnam's unique local culture through these unique viewpoints in order to promote the Confucian cultural exchange between China and Vietnam.
