Schindler's List(originally published as Schindler's Ark),published in 1982,is the novel written by Australian novelist Thomas Keneally. It is also marked as his best-known work.At the same time,he has won the Booker Prize in the same year as the publication of the novel.Facing the severe circumstances of persecution of Jews led by German Nazi during the second world war, this book depicts how Oskar Schindler,a speculator in the times of declaring extermination of Jews overwhelmingly in Europe, circulates in German officers of different ranks and succeeds in protecting thousands of Jews from being killed by means of his special identity.Schindler makes a redemption miracle even a saint cannot afford. What,on earth, has stimulated his inner authenticity and kindness and caused Schindler to change his mind and give up his motives of making money? Thus,he ultimately joins the camp of redemption and makes such a choice different from other people. What has encouraged him to save more Jews repeatedly in a widely-known way without being persecuted by German Nazis? In order to get the answers to these questions, the present writer of this thesis attempts to interpret this novel from the perspective of lines of flight,an aspect of schizoanalysis, methodology of Deleuzian philosophy,to explore the fragmented character traits under the background of postmodernism. In addition, this thesis aims at deeply analyzing how Schindler struggles to break the shackles of contemporary political system to become a minoritarian of Deluezian philosophy and undertakes the mission of rescuing Jews who are confronted with acts of genocide from the hopeless situation.Eventually he completes his tour of spiritual flight by virtue of becoming, dismantling the face, body without organs, deterritorialization and repetition. This thesis consists of five chapters.Chapter One is an introduction which mainly introduces the author Thomas Keneally, and his novel Schindler's List, the researches of this novel both at home and abroad, the significance of the thesis as well as the layout of the thesis.Chapter Two is the theory researches related to this thesis, mainly including the explanation of the prerequisites of flight, the definition and revolution of lines of fight and the interpretation of main terms of becoming, dismantling the face, body without organs, deterritorialization and repetition.Chapter Three focuses on analyzing the prerequisites of Schindler's successful flight, and makes a further studyon his concrete ways to escape, therefore, trying to find out the reasons why he completes his tour of spiritual escape.Chapter Four pays much attention to the other characters in the novel by applying lines of flight.Lastly,Chapter Five comes to the conclusion.Based on what has been analyzed, the research finds that it is Schindler's rhizomatic way of thinking and behaving that create his rhizomatic life, which endows him with schizophrenic personality, hence he becomes a minoritarian. After experiencing the processes of becoming, dismantling the face, forming body without organs, deterritorialization and repetition, ultimately,he has transformed profoundly from a profit-lust merchant into a redeemer, which brings him the greatness of spirit.
