In the late Ming,famous prostitutes not only had unsurpassed beauty,but also most of them could recite Anthology skillful.Moreover,these prostitutes had a good knowledge of literature and history,poetry and literature and their cultural level were far ahead of famous prostitutes of the previous dynasty.Exploring the reading activities of famous prostitutes is helpful to drive the research on Chinese women's reading history.However,up to now,there are few achievements in the field of famous prostitutes'reading activities at home and abroad.In this paper,the statistical analysis,interdisciplinary research,comparative research and other research methods are applied to deeply research on the cultivation of famous prostitute's reading ability,reading environment and places,reading purposes,reading content,reading methods and the significance of reading activities.This paper consists of an introduction and six parts of the text.Four aspects of content can be seen in the introduction.Firstly,concepts of"Late Ming","Jiangnan"and "Famous prostitute" are defined in the paper.Secondly,the significance of thesis topic is expounded from the perspective of reading history,brothel culture and women's history.Thirdly,domestic and foreign academic achievements on Chinese women's reading are sorted out.The fourth part mainly presents the main research methods used in this paper.The text has six parts.The first part shows the cultivation process of these famous prostitute's reading ability.Famous prostitutes come from different sources,including the daughters of hereditary official prostitutes,the wives and daughters of criminals,the girls from respectable families left stranded penniless in brothels or the beautiful girls who fall into brothels due to poverty.There are four ways for them to receive education in the brothels:obtaining knowledge form bawds,previous famous prostitutes teach them knowledge,hiring some famous teachers or receive the education from scholars on study tours.The second part presents the reading environment,which is expounded from social cultural environment and reading activity place.The open social atmosphere,abundant women's books and encouragement for women's writing provide a good social cultural environment for famous prostitutes to read.The brothels are the direct living place for famous prostitutes and become the main place for them to read books.In terms of living environment,famous prostitutes in the late Ming also deliberately pursuit pure elegance They decorated their house sedulously in order to appeal to the preferences of literati and officialdom and attract the presence of distinguished guests.Before becoming famous in the late Ming,these prostitutes often went out of brothels,visited some famous men and made friends with celebrities to gain greater fame.For example,Wang wei carried books in her boat and traveled between the Jiangnan area.It can be seen that the reading places of famous prostitutes are not limited to the brothels,and many places of interest are included.The third part illustrates the reading purpose and content of the famous prostitutes.The fundamental purpose of famous prostitute read lots of books mainly cater to the preferences of literati and officialdom and meet the needs of the profession.Meanwhile,the reading also helps them to build a bridge of love and find a suitable husband for themselves,obtaining a happy marriage.The reading content of famous prostitutes mainly includes poetry,classics and history,Buddhism and Taoism books and so onThe fourth part mainly discusses two reading ways.One is to read by themselves Another is to explore literary rhyme with some literati and officialdom.For example,the Li shiniang's"Hanxiu Zhai",Gu mei's"Meilou"and so on are all places where literati and officialdom and prostitutes gather.The fifth part discusses the achievements and influences of the famous prostitutes'reading.Many famous prostitutes in the late Ming loved reading and left their literary achievements such as poems.At present,there is a little research on the literary achievements of famous prostitutes.It can be seen from the attached list that the achievements of famous prostitutes focus on poems,among which 24 famous prostitutes have own anthology.The influence of the reading of famous prostitutes can be divided into two aspects.One is forming the cultural circle of famous prostitutes for the cities where famous prostitutes live,the other one is reading enables them to improve themselves and gain independent personality.The sixth part shows the characteristics of the famous prostitute reading from the way of receiving education,reading content,reading
