English writing takes a big role in the processing of English learning in the middle schools.The English Curricular Standard in the Phase of Compulsory Education(2017)requires that students' composition should use common connectives to express order and logic,describe the picture by using simple words,and write simple paragraph or operation according to the chart.So the study proposes a new teaching model based on the mind mapping and lexical,applying it in the class of Grade 9.This new model improves students' ability of accumulating chunks and using chunks based on mind mapping,which makes the student's writing processing more fluently and the structure of composition more reasonable to fulfill the requirement.The lexical chunk is an important unit that combines vocabulary and grammar,which is the smallest unit of input storage.It has significant application value in English writing.It can increase the process of managing language information effectively and relieve the pressure of writing.Mind mapping can visualize knowledge and thinking processes.It can help individuals to build their own knowledge,which helps people think,plan and do other related activities as well.Therefore,this study is based on the lexical chunks and mind mapping and combined the visualization of mind mapping and lexical chunks.This study proposes three questions: whether the mind mapping-based lexical chunks teaching has positive influence on students' English writing after teaching;whether the mind mapping-based lexical chunks teaching is beneficial to increase the amount and accuracy of chunks;whether mind mapping-based lexical chunks teaching is conducive to gradually improve students' English writing grades.The study selects one class of Grade 9 of Henan Province,lasting a whole term.This study uses the empirical methods of questionnaire,writing test and text analysis to collect the experimental data,and then analyzes the data to verify the questions.The experimental results show that students' English writing has improved,and the amount and accuracy of lexical chunks have increased greatly.The students' writing grade increased after the new method training.What's more students are satisfied with this teaching method.
